About: We serve youth who are making the difficult transition to adulthood who've had experience in the foster care and/or juvenile justice systems by providing jobs, training, and mentorship. Simply put, we help youth prepare for the future, for adulthood, the world of work, and life. Our programs provide paid work experience, training in life and job skills, mentorship, and wrap-around services.

Addison Shockley
Founder & Executive Director
Addison is the Founder and Executive Director of Ready for Good. He holds a Ph.D. in Rhetoric, Politics, and Publics, and previously served as a teaching and research assistant at top universities. Addison’s academic background in communication, coupled with early training in construction management, uniquely positions him to lead a social enterprise that intersects youth development, environmental sustainability, and business operations. Since launching Ready for Good in 2022, he has built two social enterprises — a furniture-restoration store and a residential sewer inspection training program — created trauma-informed curricula for at-risk youth, and secured funding and partnerships that support scaling. Addison leads with the conviction that youth impacted by foster care or housing instability deserve opportunities for dignity, skill-building, and long-term success — while contributing to environmental stewardship and community well-being.
Lydia Shockley
Co-Founder & Co-CEO
Lydia serves as Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Ready for Good, where she oversees quality assurance, operations, and social enterprise development. With a B.A. in Economics from California State University, Los Angeles (2016), Lydia brings a unique blend of analytical and hands-on retail management experience — including stints at a home-furnishings store and youth-serving organizations. Since 2020, she has helped scale Ready for Good from startup to a multi-staff social enterprise, guiding strategic direction, mentoring youth, and developing partnerships that fuel the organization’s mission to restore furniture, restore hope, and provide living-wage career pathways. Lydia is committed to creating sustainable, dignified opportunities for youth while building a circular-economy model that reduces waste and fosters community resilience.
